Friends of the Friendship Trail Bridge have been and are continuing to work hard to save the bridge.
When it was open, the Friendship Trail Bridge provided residents with great accommodations for bicycling, walking, running,in-line skating, exercise, family picnics, and fishing.
The bridge provided bicyclists and in-line skaters with a car-free way to travel between Hilsborough and Pinellas counties, between Tampa and St. Petersburg as they traveled between their homes and universities, work, restaurants, and entertainment venues.
The Friendship Trail Bridge attracted active tourists who wanted to enjoy the bridge, for the same reasons as residents, while being able to gaze across the awesome expanse of water.
Supporters have run the bridge through engineering reports and other requirements, finding the bridge can be saved and reopened. Read their report at their website friendshiptrailbridge.com/plan.
